Slavery Makes a Comeback

We who work in the private sector are the new slaves. Our masters are unionized government bureaucrats. We work every day to pay the taxes that pay the wages and pensions of teachers, professors, inspectors, social workers, environmental fascists, career politicians, and those PennDOT guys who lean on shovels. We are paying the pensions of unionized auto workers in Detroit and even those of the rioting union workers in greedy Greece. It seems like we're contributing to every pension in the world except our own.

State workers are retiring at 55 or younger. Meanwhile, we in the private sector may not be able to retire on meager Social Security until we’re 70, and if Social Security goes bankrupt, perhaps never.

We’ll have to work an extra decade to pay for the early retirements of our state-worker neighbors. As we toil those 10 years, we’ll have to listen to them brag about their new cars, boats, RVs, ATVs, DVDs, HD-TVs, and their trips to Cancun and Aruba. And as they dine in fancy restaurants, we’ll have to subsist on Ramen noodles.

In the southern states before the Civil War, blacks worked their lives away so whites didn’t have to. Today, we in the private sector are working our lives away so those in the public sector don’t have to.

There’s something deliciously ironic about a black man presiding over a nation in which the practice of slavery has been re-introduced. It’s ironic but it isn’t funny.

Literacy for Liberals – They Need Help

Attorney General Eric Holder condemned Arizona’s immigration law (SB1070) but didn’t read it. Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano condemned the law but didn’t read it. President Obama condemned the law but never admitted that he didn’t read (no one in the liberal media had the integrity to ask him). Thousands of unruly protesters poured into the streets to condemn the Arizona law, but none of them read it. Perhaps they were waiting for it to be translated into Spanish at the taxpayers’ expense.

It seems that the second biggest problem in the U.S. – next to the need for enforcement of immigration laws – is the need for literacy programs for progressive Democrats. The campaign could be called “Literacy For Liberals.” This reminds me of the famous slogan from the old TV commercials for the United Negro College Fund: “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

Apparently Obama was never able to avail himself of funds from that worthy organization, because his mind has not just gone to waste; it’s gone to ruin. Obama was, however, able to take advantage of taxpayer funds to pay for his college education. But he had to use the name Barry Seweto and pretend to be a native of Malaysia in order to qualify for aid to foreign students.

And by the way, why the hell are we paying for the education of people from Malaysia, anyway? American taxpayer money should be used to pay for the education of Americans!

How has our country gotten so screwed up? Answer: too many people voting Democrat. Hey, people, knock it off!

Bail Out Teachers? Are You Kidding?

Well, the Democrats have done it again -- another bail-out gift to the unions, this time $10 billion to the teachers’ unions. First they forced us, the taxpayers, to pay the pensions of union auto workers, and now this. Just when you thought the DemoRats had sunk about as low as they could go, they even farther lower the Limbo stick.

The bailout is intended to prevent teacher layoffs, but there’s a simple alternative to layoffs – do what the private sector does: reduce salaries across the board. I’m sorry, but I just don’t buy the union argument that little Bobby can’t learn to read unless his teacher is paid $60K. I’ll bet little Bobby could learn to read just as well from a $58K teacher (or better yet, a $28K teacher).

First Chrysler and GM and then the banks – all too big to fail. Now, apparently, Democrats think our schools are too big to fail. Well, in my opinion, the only thing too big about our schools are their payrolls. And besides – in case you haven’t noticed, our schools are already failing – failing to adequately teach our kids the basics. And this is due to bad union-protected teachers who just keep getting paid more the worse they perform. Education would improve in the U.S. if the worst 10 percent of teachers were laid off. Instead of bailing them out; we should be kicking them out.

And if you want to talk about true failure, about the people who are failing the most, who are the absolute kings and queens of failure – let’s talk about the Democrats. They are failing to represent the will of the majority of taxpaying citizens. They are failing at their jobs. Let’s lay off all of them this November!

Media Corruption and the Missouri Slap-Down

If you blinked in August you missed one of the biggest news stories of the year. An eye blink, a few milliseconds, is all the time that the mainstream media devoted to covering it, even though it was the biggest slap in the face of a national leader since the Bostonians slapped King George by dumping his tea. The event I’m talking about was the primary vote in Missouri. There on Aug. 4 voters overwhelmingly rejected one of the main ingredients of Obamacare (the so-called “individual mandate”).

This was a big, big deal and a humongous news story, but if you don’t watch Fox News, you may have missed it altogether. Why? How can we be living in a country filled with thousands of news outlets but with only a handful that actually cover the news? Well, they all cover some news, just not the news they don’t like, just not any news that reflects poorly on their guy. Members of the media have become Obama proselytizers and propagandists. They report the good news (or take neutral news and spin it positive), but when something happens that makes Obama look bad, liberal reporters hide their heads like ostriches.

This cannot continue. America needs a free press. Currently, our press is free from government intrusion but not free from internal ideological corruption. The American press (media) is its own worst enemy. Newspaper readership is dying, and many blame that on the internet. But consumers aren’t turning to the internet because they like cold electronics better than paper; they are turning to the internet because it’s the only place they can get real news.

Newspapers and the mainstream media are dying because no one trusts them anymore. Why would you when the mainstream elites don’t even cover something as earthshaking as Missouri’s referendum? By ignoring stories like the Missouri primary, the mainstream media is slowly committing suicide. Consumers will not continue to pay for partisan non-news, and the mainstream media will soon die. R.I.P.

The Census: Stand Up and Be Counted (or Not)

According to the social engineers who created the census form, America includes many kinds of Hispanics (Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, etc.), many kinds of Asians (Filipino, Korean, Japanese, etc.), and many varieties of Pacific Islanders (Fijian, Tongan, etc.). And apparently Somoans and Guamanians are a race unto themselves. Yet when it comes to the many different kinds of white people (Germans, Italians, Swiss, French, Swedes, etc.), the census bureaucrats, and the Democrat/socialists who direct them, don’t seem to care. The census form asks immigrants from Indochina to differentiate whether they are Vietnamese, Laotian, Thai, Cambodian, or Hmong? Why doesn’t it ask whether I’m Irish or English?

It is clear that although whites will be counted, to the progressive elites who control the census, whites don’t really count – except as resources for income redistribution.

Even though I knew that the information that I provided will eventually be used against me, I went ahead and filled out my census form (Gosh, it would be unpatriotic not to, the liberals told me.). But I took some liberties with the form. Where it asked what sort of Hispanic I am, I checked the “another” box. And in the place where it asks my race, I wrote in “homo sapiens.” Well, we’re all human beings, aren’t we? Members of the family of man?

When it comes to the census, it seems that you either belong to a politically correct minority group (the chosen few) or you are a colorless nonentity. The Democrats’ rainbow coalition seems to include every color accept white.

No Relief In Sight

NO RELIEF IN SIGHT. That’s not a meteorological forecast that the current heat wave will continue unabated; it’s an economic forecast that the current recession will continue unabated. And the prognosticator is none other than Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

In his candid testimony before the Senate Banking Committee on July 21, Bernanke all but admitted that the Democrats’ pork-laden stimulus (spending) bill has done zero to stimulate the economy. And his predictions were bleak. The L.A. Times paraphrased him as saying: “unemployment is likely to remain stubbornly high for several years, straining families and endangering the nation's economic stability and competitiveness.” And it’s going to take a “significant amount of time” to restore the almost 8.5 million jobs lost in 2008 and 2009. In other words: NO RELIEF IN SIGHT.

Although Bernanke’s honesty was surprising, his message was not. Practically every economist in the U.S. has said that the Democrats are taking the economy in the wrong direction, and actually making things worse. Millions of average Americans are also seeing the storm clouds. And on July 21 Wall Street got the message too – after Bernanke’s testimony the Dow dived 183 points. To quote Bob Dylan: “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.”

So is there really no relief in sight? Well, there’s no relief in sight only as long as the Democrats remain in power, and that will change come November. That’s when every intelligent American will go to the polls and vote Republican, the imperfect party that is our only hope. And then the cool winds of real change (not the hot air of chump-change) will blow away the scourge of socialism. Now that will be cool! Ah, I can almost feel the relief. That’s the kind of climate-change we can believe in.
